The chairman of Switzerland-based Roche Group, Christoph Franz, was in Indianapolis on Oct. 25 to celebrate completion of the first phase of the $300 million redevelopment of the Roche Diagnostics campus.

Roche announced plans in June 2012 to invest more than $300 million over 10 years at its Hague Road facilities, off Interstate 69 at the East 96th Street exit, which serve as the North American headquarters of the diagnostics division.

Since then, the company has built five buildings, refurbished existing buildings, made upgrades to IT infrastructure, and increased investments in its diabetes care manufacturing technology.

“This site transformation represents a significant long-term investment by Roche in our Indianapolis campus, our people and also to the broader central Indiana community,” Franz said in a written statement.

Nearly 200 Indiana companies and contractors worked more than 1.3 million hours since 2012 to complete this first phase of the project.

Roche is one of central Indiana’s largest employers, with nearly 3,000 local workers.
