Making an early bid to dominate A&E preview sections come fall, the Indianapolis Museum of Art announced today that it will be offering a Henri Matisse exhibition in October.
The show, "Matisse, Life in Color: Masterworks from The Baltimore Museum of Art," will run through Jan. 12. The hope is that it will not only please IMA loyalists and locals, but also prove a major regional draw. Built from the extensive Cone Collection, the show will include such works as "Large Reclining Nude" and "The Yellow Dress." Ancillary programs will include live music performances inspired by Matisse's "Jazz" portfolio.
Anticipating crowds, the IMA is pushing early ticketing for members. While the general public tickets don't go on sale until Sept. 1, members can lock in tickets beginning March 11.
