So what did you see, hear or do on the arts front this weekend?
My weekend included some First Friday gallery hopping, a concert that I bailed on at intermission (something I rarely do), and a wonderful opportunity to see a hit play in great company.
Yes, it was time for another IBJ A&E Road Trip, this time to Cincinnati to see the national touring production of "War Horse." In addition to not having to worry about driving, the day was enhanced with an on-the-bus discussion of the art of puppetry with Indianapolis' own Patrick Weigand, who designed creations for, among other shows, NoExit's "The Nutcracker" and the Phoenix's "Avenue Q".
We also surprised the busload of adventurous theatergoers with a chance to enter the theater early for an exclusive up-close-and-personal look at the safety check for this complex, remarkable show. And, of course, there was horse trivia thrown into the mix as well.
More on "War Horse" soon (and more info on upcoming IBJ A&E Road Trips to see "Big Fish" and "Jungle Book" in Chicago here.)
In the meantime, share your weekend arts experiences here. Did you get to the Ai Weiwei show at the IMA? The symphony at the Hilbert Circle Theater? Catch the local premiere of "Clybourne Park" at the Phoenix? See the Indianapolis Men's Chorus at the Indiana History Center?
Whatever you did, let's hear it.
