It's officially summer, which means outdoor activities, a musical from Bob Harbin, and lots of concert choices.

Indianapolis Public Art Bicycle Tour

The Canal, White River State Park, and the IUPUI campus are the cruise-through locations for this ride led by Lindsey Lord of the Arts Council of Indianapolis. Feeling parched afterwards? A brewery tour and private tasting session follows.

“Moonrise Kingdom”

Yes, I liked “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and “The Fantastic Mr. Fox,” but I also have a soft spot in my movie-loving heart for this loopy 2012 Wes Anderson flick about a pair of runaway kids and the quirk-filled search party that tries to track them down. And I suspect it will be even more fun with a picnic to go along with this outdoor screening.

“Billy Elliot”

The coal-mining kid who just wanted to dance has done pretty well for himself. First there was an out-of-the-blue hit movie, then a Tony-winning Broadway musical. That musical will be getting its local production premiere thanks to Bob Harbin and his Bobdirex company, which offers a big summer musical every year. Plainfield High School student Thomas Whitcomb takes on the title role.
