Housing gridlock

Itâ??s old news that houses arenâ??t selling. But did you realize the situation is so bad that migration around the country has
all but stopped?

Thatâ??s what Ball State University economist Mike Hicks and a colleague at the Mackinaw Center for Public Policy found in an
examination of stats from a moving company and
other sources.

In some cases, one spouse is moving and the other is staying behind in order to sell the house, their study says.

Ironically, they note, Indiana appears to have gained population last year while Michigan, another big manufacturing state,
hemorrhaged dearly.
