Shapiro’sTop-name Indianapolis restaurants including Shapiro's Deli, Harry & Izzy's, Scholar's Inn and Slippery Noodle Inn could land restaurants at the new Indianapolis International Airport terminal, Property Lines has learned. The Airport Authority had aimed to include plenty of local flavor in the new airport's food offerings, and many local eateries jumped at the opportunity. In April, the Authority announced part of the lineup, including Cafe Patachou, 96th Street Steakburgers, King David Dogs and Georgio's Pizza. Visitors also will have a chance to try a famous St. Elmo shrimp cocktail. Harry & Izzy's, the St. Elmo spinoff, will take about 3,000 square feet in the new south concourse, said Craig Huse, a co-owner. "The goal is to have some local flavor at the airport, so visitors in town for a short time can still get a taste of the city," he said. The owner of Scholar's Inn, Lyle Feigenbaum, said his concept was selected. Hal Yeagy, the owner of Slippery Noodle, said he too hopes to open at the airport. Travelers also will be able to try a piled-high corned beef sandwich from Shapiro's, an employee confirmed.
