Broad Ripple Fire StationConcern over the future of Broad Ripple Fire Station No. 32 is heating up as the Indianapolis Fire Department weighs whether to close the station and sell the property at 6330 Guilford Ave. The small station, which no longer houses an engine but still retains a medical unit, has been on the chopping block for years. But the merger of the Washington Township Fire Department into IFD has created a new sense of urgency to find cost savings. An IFD spokeswoman says the station could be closed without affecting fire service to the neighborhood, but she said no final decision has been made. The Broad Ripple Village Association, expected to fight a closure, will hear an update from Chief Brian Sanford at a meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Indianapolis Art Center.
