Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard on Monday encouraged local businesses to remain closed another day.

He tweeted, “Severe cold still a concern, -40 w/wind chill. We encourage schools & businesses to remain closed through Tues."

Here's a rundown of some of the restaurant and store closings:

• All Simon malls in the area are now closed for the day. The closings include Hamilton Town Center in Noblesville, Clay Terrace in Carmel, Greenwood Park Mall in Greenwood, in addtiion to The Fashion Mall, Circle Centre, Castleton Square and Washington Square malls in Indianapolis.

• The Kroger at 4202 S. East St. is closed, while the store at 5325 E. Thompson Road is open; however, the pharmacy is closed. The store at 71st Street and Binford Boulevard is open but operating on a generator.

Kroger distribution centers are running about 24 hours behind in restocking stores primarily because employees are unable to make it to work, company spokesman John Elliott said. The company is encouraging employees to decide whether to report to work "based on protecting their personal safety and their individual commute situation," he said in an email.

Among the restaurant closings:

• All Patachou and City Barbeque locations

• Cobblestone Grill in Zionsville

• Scotty’s Brewhouse locations are closed for lunch.

• Calvin Fletcher's Coffee Co. is closed with Tueday's hours to be determined.

Other closings:

• Hoosier Park Racing & Casino in Anderson, Indiana Grand Racing & Casino in Shelbyville and the Winner's Circle Pub, Grille & OTB in Indianapolis will remain closed Monday. The three facilities owned by Cetaur Gaming should reopen at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

• Bill Estes Chevrolet and Tom Wood dealerships

• All Goodwill stores
