Dungy says Weis could be good fit for Colts

So could former Notre Dame football coach Charlie Weis be headed for Indianapolis?

Well, on some level it makes at least a little bit of sense. Tom Moore, the Colts’ long-time offensive coordinator, has long qualified for his AARP card and is now working as a consultant on a year-to-year basis.

If Moore decides to head to the beaches of south Florida, no one could blame him. He already has his Super Bowl ring, and another one this season could certainly send him packing.

And while Weis didn’t exactly get a passing grade as a head college football coach, no one is doubting his abilities as an offensive coordinator at the pro level. He certainly had solid results in New England.

Former Colts coach Tony Dungy thinks it’d be a good fit. And not just because Weis is a master of Xs and Os.

“I’m sure the Colts would like to tweak the Patriots that way,” Dungy said on NBC last Sunday.

The Colts have nothing to say about Dungy’s comment or Weis’ future.

In an ironic twist, Dungy is reportedly on Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick’s short list to replace Weis.

Now that hire, just a year after Dungy’s retirement from Indianapolis, might tweak Colts owner Jim Irsay.
