At this rate, couch potatoes soon won’t recognize anyone on local TV news.

The latest in a flurry of 2013 staffing changes involves WXIN-TV Fox 59, where Kristin Kane starts as morning news anchor on Dec. 9. She replaces Jenny Anchondo, who moved to a Dallas station last month.

Kane started her career at WCBS-TV in New York and most recently worked at Central Florida News 13, a Bright House Networks news operation. While her predecessor at Fox 59 was a former pro football cheerleader, Kane holds a bachelor’s in American history from Columbia University.

Meanwhile, WISH-TV Channel 8 has been beefing up its news staff, hiring former Salt Lake City evening anchor Kylie Conway and former WCIA-TV (Champaign, Ill.) reporter Jeff Wagner.

WRTV-TV Channel 6 political reporter Norm Cox retired on Nov. 1 after 36 years and covering seven governors, and the ABC affiliate has added more than a half-dozen staffers this year as part of an expansion of its morning newscasts.

Later this month, WISH anchor Debby Knox will retire after four decades on the air.

The highest-profile departure has been that of veteran WTHR-TV Channel 13 chief meteorologist Christ Wright. Wright rejected the idea of taking a reduced role to make way for former WISH-TV meteorologist Angela Buchman during evening newscasts.
