Single-family-building permit filings rose 8 percent in the nine-county area in September, marking the 15th straight month of year-over-year increases, the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis reported Tuesday.

It was the lowest year-over-year monthly increase reported this year.

BAGI said 367 permits were filed last month, up from 339 in September 2012. Year-to-date filings have risen 23 percent from the same period a year ago.

Hamilton County was the busiest county for homebuilding in September with 127 permits filed, down 2 percent from last September.

Marion County filings also slipped 2 percent, to 50. Hendricks County saw a 4-percent drop, to 52.

Permits rose 26 percent in Johnson County, to 59, and 60 percent in Boone County, to 32.

Overall, the September number was the highest since 508 permits were filed that month in 2007.

Recent activity still pales compared to pre-recession numbers. More than 1,230 permits were filed in the area in September 2005.
