Subscribe NowA man who got into a shootout with Shelbyville police in January has been sentenced to 50 years in prison. Officers shot and seriously wounded 23-year-old Lyman Dawson when they say he fired in their direction as they tried to catch him after he had shot at residents who spotted him trying to break into a car. The Whiteland resident pleaded guilty in August to attempted murder and other charges. Dawson said during Monday's sentencing hearing that he had been using the synthetic drug known as bath salts before the shooting.
