Richmond factory being closed by new owner

July 1, 2010

The new owner of a Richmond factory plans to shut it down later this summer, costing about 75 employees their jobs.

Engineered Plastic Components said in a letter to state officials that it would close the former Innatech plastics factory in Richmond by mid-August. The Grinnell, Iowa-based company bought the factory in May from Michigan-based Innatech, which had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection two months earlier.

The company said in its state filing that it expected the Richmond plant closing to be permanent.
