Two Indiana University students frustrated with the cost of college textbooks are trying to lower those costs through an online site that lets students compare prices.
Ben Greenberg and Rui Xia launched TextYard.com at IU in 2008 and have now expanded it to the University of Florida and University of Texas.
The Herald-Times reports the site is affiliated with Amazon, Chegg and CourseSmart and has had more than 1,000 users at IU. TextYard receives a percentage of textbook sales linked through its site. Greenberg says shopping around can save students up to 60 percent off their textbooks.
The developers say they hope to add other college products to the site in the future.
