Economic development officials say IBM Corp. could add several hundred workers to a call center it has in central Indiana.

Delaware County officials expect IBM's expansion in Daleville will mean 120 additional jobs in the next two years. The Star Press of Muncie reported the figures were announced Thursday as the county redevelopment commission approved a $125,000 forgivable loan to the company, which already has 500 employees at the center.

The county has offered more loans toward expansions that Terry Murphy of the Muncie-Delaware County Economic Alliance said could lead to IBM having 1,000 workers in the business park at a former outlet mall along Interstate 69, near Anderson.

Workers at the IBM center take calls on behalf of a variety of clients. Officials say the new jobs would pay about $22,000 a year.
