Subscribe NowProject Lead the Way Inc., a not-for-profit provider of education curricular programs for middle and high schools, announced Friday morning that it will move its headquarters from New York to Indianapolis and plans to add 44 jobs by 2014.
The Clifton Park, N.Y.-based company is moving to a location on the north side of the city and expects to be operating by early next year.
Project Lead the Way said it has begun hiring additional employees to join those who are relocating to Indianapolis. The company is hiring for human resources, data analysis, communications, logistics and school-support positions.
According to public documents, the not-for-profit has 56 employees. It had $17 million in revenue in 2009.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. said it will provide Project Lead the Way up to $240,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $200,000 in training grants based on the company’s job-creation plans. The company is requesting a County Option Income Tax refund from the city of Indianapolis.
Founded in 1997, Project Lead the Way provides curriculum for engineering and biomedical sciences to more than 400,000 students nationwide.
Its science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs are taught in 4,200 schools across the country, including 350 in Indiana.
The not-for-profit is led by Vince Bertram, who earlier this year left his position as superintendent of Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp., the state's third-largest public school system.
