Duncan had held the position on an interim basis since March, when his predecessor, John Clark, abruptly stepped down.
Duncan has been with the IAA for 38 years and previously served as general counsel and chief operating officer. He was closely involved in the planning of the airport’s new midfield terminal, in addition to other land and economic development initiatives.
“After completing a thorough assessment of candidates, our search committee has concluded that the Indianapolis Airport Authority will be best served by Bob’s continued leadership and his extensive experience,” IAA Board President Michael W. Wells said in a prepared statement.
Wells was appointed board president shortly before Clark’s three-year letter of intent expired in March. The sudden departure came just two weeks after IBJ reported that Clark and two key officers spent more than $67,000 last year on travel that included extended trips to Brazil, Denmark, Greece, Morocco and Switzerland.
