Iraq column not credible

April 6, 2013

I read with incredulity Mike Hicks’ [March 25] column on the Iraq war’s “success or failure.” What does it have to do with economic analysis? Hopefully he actually has some expertise in this field.

The “insufficient numbers” of weapons of mass destruction was actually one number—zero. The intelligence error was caused by the lack of intelligence of our commander-in-chief. George W. Bush should have been impeached and Dick Cheney should have gone to prison without the possibility of a heart transplant for committing such a grievous error.

How did Hicks dream up “we invaded Iraq solely to plant the seeds of democracy?” Get real. Will we be sowing “democracy seeds” in Cuba, North Korea and Iran soon?
