The new owner of Monaco RV in plans to shut down a 520-worker northern Indiana factory and shift its production work to another Indiana plant.

Allied Specialty Vehicles announced Thursday it was buying Monaco and several of its brands from Navistar Inc. Production at the existing Monaco plant in Wakarusa will move to a factory in Decatur near Fort Wayne. Allied executive Jim Meyer said an undetermined number of jobs will be added in Decatur, but the jobs lost in Wakarusa won't be replaced on a one-to-one basis.

Meyer said the company, which is owned by a New York-based private equity firm, will work on turning around the RV company's financial troubles.

Meyer told the South Bend Tribune that the Wakarusa factory won't get new production orders and that its work will wind down in August.

Allied will try to sell the Wakarusa facilities, Meyer told The Elkhart Truth.
