Some 600 Air Force reservists and civilian employees are back on the job at Indiana's Grissom Air Reserve Base, about 70 miles north of Indianapolis.
Those employees returned to work Monday after four days on furlough last week because of the partial federal government shutdown.
Those furloughs ended with Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel's weekend decision to recall most of the military's civilian workers based on a Pentagon legal interpretation of a law passed by Congress shortly before the shutdown began.
Grissom spokesman Sgt. Mark Orders-Woempner told the Kokomo Tribune that workers were glad to return after being notified on Sunday.
