One of the state’s largest environmental lobbies has targeted laws the group says favor the agriculture industry.

The Hoosier Environmental Council has targeted food safety, animal rights and the environmental impact the corporate livestock industry has in Indiana.

The organization will dig into the topic, among other environmental issues, during its Greening the Statehouse forum Nov. 16 at IUPUI’s Campus Center.

The forum will revive the environmental group’s effort to halt so-called “right to hunt and fish” legislation that is up for discussion in Indiana’s next General Assembly session.

The bill would seal certain hunting and fishing rights in the state’s constitution, but the environmental council has challenged the legislation, saying it “misleadingly” protects factory farms.

Other topics up for discussion will include clean energy and mass transit. Admission is $20 for the public or $10 for students.
