An Indianapolis woman was surprised on Christmas with a long-lost reminder of her father, who died in 1945. Pat Davis was reunited with the Purple Heart awarded to her father, Jackie Nesbit, who perished in Operation Varsity during World War II. Davis was just 2 months old at the time. The medal was misplaced during a family move soon after Nesbit’s death. Davis’s son-in-law recently tracked down the medal and raised $1,200 to buy it from a collector.
