The board likely will approve the project, which is called the Purdue Football Performance Complex, during a meeting Saturday following discussions Friday, The Journal and Courier of Lafayette reported.
A new facility will be built north of the existing Mollenkopf Athletic Center and will connect with the outdoor practice fields. Construction is expected to begin in May and end in August 2017.
The project is designed to upgrade the football program's out-of-date facilities and make them contemporary with the school's peers across the country.
The program's training facilities haven't seen a major upgrade in more than 25 years.
Purdue Purdue athletic director Morgan Burke this month said there were growing concerns about the direction of the football program, which went 2-10 this season and is 6-30 in three years under coach Darrell Hazell.
