Indiana State looks to grow enrollment by 20 percent

Indiana State University's president says he wants the school's enrollment to grow by nearly 20 percent over the next six years while also increasing its number of online programs.

Indiana State President Dan Bradley said the Terre Haute school plans to target people around the Midwest who have some college credits but haven't earned a degree.

Bradley told the Tribune-Star that adding online offerings will be a priority. The school now has more than 40 online programs and hopes to double its number of distance degrees awarded to about 900 in coming years.

School officials say 13,565 students enrolled this fall. The school has a goal of reaching 16,000 students by 2022.

Enrollment is up about 30 percent from 2008, when it had dropped to around 10,500.
