Clarian Health has resumed construction on its Saxony Medical Center in Fishers after an 8-month hiatus, the Indianapolis-based
hospital system announced Friday.

The $190 million hospital, located at Interstate 69 and 146th Street, is expected
to be complete in late 2011.

Even as it halted work on the hospital, Clarian continued to build an adjoining 100,000-square-foot
medical office building, which will open in spring 2011.

Clarian Saxony Medical Center will be built in phases.
The first phase will have 44 beds and 200,000 square feet of total space.

“I am pleased that the hard
work of our employees in conserving resources and a more stable economic environment enable us to move forward with construction
of the Clarian Saxony Medical Center,” said Clarian CEO Dan Evans in a written statement.

Clarian broke
ground on the hospital in July 2008. But after the financial markets melted down two months later, Clarian’s
heavy investment losses forced it to halt the project.

Clarian also halted construction on
a new building that is part of the Riley Hospital for Children in downtown Indianapolis.
