The number of homes sold in central Indiana during the first three months of the year essentially remained stagnant compared
with the same period in 2009, according to a report Tuesday from the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors.

Homes sold in the first quarter totaled 4,634, a 1-percent increase from the 4,593 that were sold in the same period last
year.

The MIBOR report also found in the first quarter that:

— Total sales volume increased 12 percent, to $637 million.

— Months of supply declined to 8.2 months in March compared with nine months in March 2009.

— Average sale price jumped 11 percent, to $137,647.

— Home-sale agreements, or pended sales, rose 11 percent.

The amount of homes sold during the past six months also increased, by 13 percent, when compared with the October 2008-March
2009 timeframe.

The number of homes sold over the previous 12 months increased just 1 percent, to 25,103, from the year prior.

MIBOR's report covers home sales in 13 central Indiana counties: Boone, Brown, Decatur, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks,
Johnson, Madison, Marion, Montgomery, Morgan, Putnam and Shelby.
