I look forward to receiving my IBJ every Saturday and enjoy the coverage about our local community immensely. I particularly enjoy the focus on local businesses that have a vested interest in our community.

That said, I find the continued press coverage about Steak-n-Shake and Biglari Holdings to be irrelevant to our community and a waste of IBJ’s valuable resources. Steak n Shake is gone in any form resembling its history in Indianapolis. Aside from having restaurants here, Biglari Holdings contributes no more to our city than any other generic restaurant chain. Thus, continued press coverage of Biglari Holdings is about as relevant as knowing what Darden restaurants (owners of Olive Garden, Red Lobster, et al.) is doing in Orlando.

The sooner we can push Biglari Holdings into the “irrelevant” pile where it belongs, the sooner we can focus scarce media resources on truly remarkable local companies that are taking the world by storm. These companies coincidentally have a demonstrated vested interest in our city, which is not true of Biglari Holdings.
