The UPS Foundation gave the final $25,000 installment in a $50,000 gift to refine the “Hire Technology” program for high school students. The program is being piloted at the Excel Center, an Indianapolis charter school, and at seven other schools testing it statewide.
Hire Technology will be available statewide next year. The program was developed by state manufacturing and logistics initiative Conexus, in partnership with Ivy Tech Community College.
Lilly Endowment Inc. also has helped fund the program. Some logistics and advanced manufacturing jobs pay well above the statewide average for earnings.•
