Emptying the notebook on news from the A&E front:

—The Arts Council of Indianapolis has announced the latest crop of 30 $10,000 Creative Renewal Grant recipients. This year, visual artists (including Lobyn Hamilton and Lauren Zoll) dominated the list with 12 fellows. Arts administrators (8) outnumbered literary (3), theater (1) and dance (2) artists combined.

—Heather Headley, the Tony-winning actress (for “Aida”) who grew up in Fort Wayne, will be playing the witch in this summer’s production of “Into the Woods” at the MUNY in St. Louis, July 21-27.

—West Lafayette’s John E. and Catherine E. Christian House, Samara, has been designated as a National Historic Landmark. The 40th NHL in Indiana, the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home is still the residence for the widowed Dr. Christian, age 97.

—Indianapolis’ Drum Corps International will have its season-opening competition screened live at theaters across the country through a partnership with Fathom Events. “Drum Corps at the Movies: 2015 DCI Tour Premiere” will be offered June 17, including locally at Regal Galaxy 14 and Goodrich’s Hamilton 16.

—The Indianapolis Museum of Art’s Summer Night’s outdoor movie series has been announced. Flicks include “Heathers” (June 12), “Casablanca” (June 19), “Jaws” (July 3), “Flash Gordon” (July 10), “Shaun of the Dead” (July 17), “The Big Lebowski” (Aug. 14), and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (Aug. 28). Alas, not a lot of diversity—unless you consider Buddy the Elf and Ming the Merciless minorities. Tickets this year are $6 for members, $12 for the general public.
