David Johnson has been named president and CEO of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, succeeding Mark Miles, who is leaving the CICP after seven years to become CEO of Hulman & Co.

The appointment is effective immediately, the CICP announced late Tuesday afternoon.

Johnson was one of the original organizers of the BioCrossroads life sciences initiative, which was founded in 2002, and has been its CEO since 2005.

CICP is a coalition of major employers and university presidents focused on economic growth for the state. It is the parent group of several business initiatives, including BioCrossroads, Conexus Indiana for manufacturing and logistics, the Energy Systems Network for energy technologies, and TechPoint for information technology.

“We didn’t have to look far afield to find there is no better prepared or qualified candidate to take the reins at CICP than David Johnson,” Denny Oklak, chairman of Duke Realty Corp. and co-chair of CICP, said in a prepared statement.

Johnson will continue to serve as president and CEO of BioCrossroads.

Prior to joining BioCrossroads, Johnson was a partner with the Indianapolis-based law firm Baker & Daniels (now Faegre Baker Daniels). He is a graduate of Harvard University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
