Marcus column went too far

IBJ Letters To The Editor

Kudos to Morton Marcus for pointing out [in his Jan. 25 column] that we should all pay for health care just as we all pay for the fire department. We provide emergency-room care to anyone in need, to the point of stabilizing the patient, which is analogous to putting the fire out.

But [Marcus] wants more. And who can argue with his logic? The government should pay for all medical care, not just emergency care, just as it pays the fire department to rebuild the house after the fire.

With tongue in cheek,

Bill Bahret
