The Dayton, Ohio-based business communications firm will invest nearly $10 million to lease and renovate a 335,000-square-foot building in the River Ridge Commerce Center. The facility, which is expected to be in operation this summer, will house digital printing, kitting and distribution operations.
Some operations from existing Standard Register facilities will be transferred to the new center. Among the advantages of the Jeffersonville site is its proximity to the United Parcel Service’s Worldport air hub at Louisville International Airport, the company said.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. has offered Standard Register up to $2.3 million in conditional tax credits and up to $175,000 in training grants based on the firm’s job-creation plans.
The 100-year-old firm was founded by brothers John Q. and William C. Sherman in 1912. It now has more than 2,200 employees at 30 U.S. locations.
The Jeffersonville center will be Standard Register’s second Indiana location. The firm also has a facility in Shelbyville that employs about 85 full-time workers.
Standard Register shares trade on the New York Stock Exchange. They were trading mid-morning Tuesday at 55 cents, up 2 cents on the day.
