Thanks [to columnist Bill Benner] for writing something positive [in the April 26 issue]. It is amazing to me how difficult
this whole process has been. The truth is all it takes to keep [the Pacers] is paying the expenses of a building we would
have to pay for anyway.
You’re right, there won’t be one extra penny for the library or any other project if they are gone.
But none of this is really about economics. It really comes down to public opinion and no one wants to subsidize billionaires.
So even though the cost to keep them and the cost of losing them may be identical, losing them may win out.
