The Vermont Attorney General's office says two companies, including one from Carmel, that were not licensed to negotiate
debt settlements with consumers must pay back residents and the state more than $206,000.

The Vermont attorney general's office said Mossler Law Firm of Carmel entered into contracts with 51 Vermont residents.
It has agreed to cease all business in Vermont and will refund about $79,500 in fees paid by Vermont residents. It will also
pay $60,000 to the state in civil penalties.

Another firm, SFC State Capital Financial Inc., of Hallandale Beach, Fla., failed to support claims on its website such as
"Debt free in 12 to 36 months."

The office said SFC had contracts with 11 Vermont customers and has offered to complete negotiations with the consumers'
creditors.

The office says other company, FC State Capital Financial Inc., of Hallandale Beach, Fla., will pay $26,800 in refunds and
$40,000 in penalties.
