Anderson firm to sell antimicrobial product in big box stores

June 18, 2011

A tiny Anderson company whose antimicrobial product has garnered interest from the military has established a beachhead in the world of big-box retailing.

Coeus Technologies has begun selling its Ultra7 product through HomeDepot.com.

The company’s “MonoFoil technology can be sprayed onto surfaces or infused into materials such as fabrics and plastics to provide a longer-lasting control against mold, mildew, fungi and algae than conventional, alcohol-based disinfectants.

Last year, Coeus said it received encouraging results from the U.S. Army, which tested its product for potential use in undergarments.

Coeus is based at Anderson’s Flagship Enterprise Center and is led by CEO Nate Richardson, a disabled veteran.

The company, founded in 2009, plans to open two plants next year for manufacturing and packaging, possibly creating 50 jobs.
