Bulls, Pacers to open preseason with charity game

December 6, 2011

The Indiana Pacers will open the long-delayed preseason by hosting the Chicago Bulls in a rematch of their first-round playoff series.

The National Basketball Association game, which will raise money for the United Way, is set for Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

It will be the first chance for fans to see Indianapolis native and former IUPUI player George Hill  in a Pacers uniform since he was traded to Indiana on draft day.

The Pacers announced Tuesday that all proceeds from the game will go to the United Way of Central Indiana. Tickets will cost $10 and be sold exclusively through the United Way of Central Indiana website from Dec. 9-11.

Indiana will travel to Chicago to play the Bulls on Dec. 20 in another preseason game.

Chicago won last season’s playoff series 4-1.

The NBA will begin its regular season on Christmas Day after it was delayed nearly two months by a labor dispute. The season will be shortened from 82 to 66 games.
