Democrat Joe Donnelly is picking up a popular line of attack against Sen. Richard Lugar as he looks to win the veteran politician's seat in November.
The Evansville Courier & Press reports Donnelly opened a campaign tour of Indiana in Evansville on Monday with allegations that Lugar is out of touch with Hoosiers.
Lugar, meanwhile, told reporters in Indianapolis he has no plans to buy a home in Indiana or construct one on his Marion County farm before the election. A pair of Indiana attorney generals have maintained that Lugar can legally vote from an Indianapolis home he sold in 1977. He lives in McLean, Va.
The Indiana Election Commission is scheduled to hear challenges Friday to Lugar's appearance on the ballot.
