MacAllister Machinery expanding in southwest Indiana

October 30, 2012

An Indianapolis-based distributor of Caterpillar equipment plans to spend nearly $9 million to expand its Daviess County dealership and create up to 61 jobs by 2016.

MacAllister Machinery Co. Inc. said Tuesday that the 50,000-square-foot expansion in Washington, about 100 miles southwest of Indianapolis, will more than double the size of its existing facility when it’s finished in the fall of 2013.

The new addition will house sales, parts and services for MacAllister’s inventory of Caterpillar equipment.

MacAllister said it plans to hire additional management, service and customer-service employees over the next four years.

Founded in Indianapolis in 1945, MacAllister has nearly 100 employees in Daviess County and more than 750 workers in 20 Indiana locations.

The Indiana Economic Development Corp. said it will provide MacAllister up to $700,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $100,000 in training grants based on the company’s job-creation plans.
