An Ohio man pleaded guilty Tuesday to defrauding more than $225,000 from contractors involved in FBI building projects in Indianapolis and Knoxville, Tenn.

Robert Berryhill, 51, of suburban of Aurora, pleaded guilty to nine counts, and U.S. District Judge Sara Lioi scheduled sentencing for July 30.

Berryhill was charged with mail and wire fraud, aggravated identity theft and posing as an FBI employee. The fraud allegedly involved phony businesses and invoices. The government says Berryhill's employer also was a victim.

Carnegie Management and Development Corp. of Westlake says Berryhill was fired in 2009 and the FBI was alerted when an audit detected alleged fraud.

Prosecutors said that from August 2008 through September 2009, Berryhill defrauded his employer and companies it managed for the construction projects.

He created false invoices in the name of a company that Berryhill had hired to restore his vintage Corvette and then submitted them, according to U.S. Attorney Steven Dettelbach.

There was no immediate comment from his defense attorney. A message was left for him at his office after the court hearing.

Carnegie has had other problems with the $39 million FBI building in Indianapolis, including a legal squabble over unpaid bills to contractors..
