Spokeswoman Christy Denault said Pence wanted the event to be accessible to as many people as possible. The Jan. 12 dinner and dance, black tie optional, will be at the JW Marriott’s Grand Ballroom. The largest ballroom in the Midwest, the room lists its capacity at 4,200. Tickets cost $75.
Pence“We are very pleased with Hoosiers’ response to the inaugural events,” Denault said. “Registration has been strong and is picking up steam after the holidays.”
Denault said there is plenty of space available for the “Family Fun Day” at the Dallara IndyCar Factory in Speedway and the “Praise and Worship Service” Jan. 13 at the Indiana Convention Center.
The inaugural ceremony will be held outside the Statehouse on Jan. 14.
All the inaugural events are funded by Indiana Works Inc., a 501(c)4 organization, which means donations are not tax-deductible.
Political groups commonly organize as 501(c)4 “social-benefit” organizations, which don’t have to reveal information about donors. However, Indiana Works notes that names of contributors, along with the amounts given, will be listed at www.Indianaworks.net.
Donations go to transition and inaugural expenses and to the Indiana National Guard Relief Fund. Staff members at events will also collect non-perishable goods for the Midwest Food Bank, a faith-based food bank with operations in Illinois and Indianapolis.
