Television viewers may remember the computer-generated motion graphics that The Basement produced for a Conner Prairie television commercial.

The firm based at Fort Benjamin Harrison also won a National Addy in 2009 for best online video game for KFC’s Guitar Hero game.

Now the youthful animators at The Basement have won the Independent Publisher’s Book Awards’ silver award for their first children’s e-book, “Every Walrus Can Fly.”

It’s a pretty big deal in the publishing world, as only 372 winners are announced from over 5,000 books entered in the contest.

The e-book is available at Apple iBookstore, Google’s Play Bookstore, and on the Nook and Kindle platforms.

The Basement was launched about five years ago by Brian Phillips and two other creative brainiacs who left the Carmel-based agency MediaSauce.

Usually, The Basement’s crew “are creating innovative work for our clients, so to get recognized for something we own, something we did for ourselves, is a different feeling for sure,” said Jacob Leffler, The Basement’s president.
