Hudnut joins D.C. office of local lobbying firm

Former Indianapolis Mayor Bill Hudnut has joined the Washington, D.C., office of Indianapolis-based lobbying firm Bose Public Affairs Group LLC.

Hudnut, 77, joined the firm Friday as a senior policy adviser, representing clients in federal government matters in the nation’s capital.

“Bill’s experience and achievement greatly enhances our portfolio of services and underscores our commitment to having a significant presence in the nation’s capital,” Craig Piercy, Bose’s senior vice president and director of federal relations, said in a prepared statement.

Hudnut, a Republican, served 16 years as mayor of Indianapolis, from 1976 to 1992. During his four terms, he was involved in the early development of the downtown Circle Centre mall, the negotiations to bring the Baltimore Colts to Indianapolis, the construction of the OneAmerica Tower, and the development of several sports venues.

After leaving the mayor’s office, Hudnut held posts at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, the Hudson Institute in Indianapolis and the Civic Federation in Chicago. He most recently served as vice-mayor of Chevy Chase, Md., and as a board member of the National League of Cities.

He also represented the Indianapolis area from 1973 to 1975 as a U.S. Representative.

Bose Public Affairs Group is an arm of the local Bose McKinney & Evans LLP law firm.

    I am sure there are plans to spring Billy into a payback government position. In the mean time, he will becoming deeper indebted to the special interests, so they will have the maximum leverage. Just look at Dan Coats and what he has done for terrorist countries, terrorists held in Gitmo, and the busineeses he sent overseas.

    So after following in the footsteps of our "dear" Mr. Coats, how long will it be before slick Willy will be back campaigning for either a Senate seat or a Representative seat. And, of course, he will deny having ever been associated with any lobbying that was detrimental to the taxpayers, but in favor of special interests. Let's hope he has more integrity than Mr. Coats.

  4. As a resident of one of these new Carmel Apartments the issue the local governments need to discuss is build quality & price. First none of these places is worth $1100 for a one bedroom. Downtown Carmel or Keystone at the Crossing in Indy. It doesn't matter. All require you to get in your car to get just about anywhere you need to go. I'm in one of the Carmel apartments now where after just 2.5 short years one of the kitchen cabinet doors is crooked and lawn and property maintenance seems to be lacking my old Indianapolis apartment which cost $300 less. This is one of the new star apartments. As they keep building throughout the area "deals" will start popping up creating shoppers. If your property is falling apart after year 3 what will it look like after year 5 or 10??? Why would one stay here if they could move to a new Broad Ripple in 2 to 3 years or another part of the Far Northside?? The complexes aren't going to let the "poor" move in without local permission so that's not that problem, but it the occupancy rate drops suddenly because the "Young" people moved back to Indy then look out.

  5. Why are you so concerned about Ace hardware? I don't understand why anyone goes there! Every time ive gone in the past, they don't have what I need and I end up going to the big box stores. I understand the service aspect and that they try to be helpful but if they are going to survive I think they might need to carry more specialty parts.
