A small central Indiana town's landmark restaurant damaged by fire four months ago is expected to reopen soon after an extensive remodeling.

Donna Tracy said her family is on schedule to reopen the Bluebird Restaurant in the Shelby County town of Morristown on April 28. The restaurant was heavily damaged in a fire that destroyed the adjacent Long Branch Saloon.

Tracy told The Shelbyville News that the restaurant is accepting reservations for Mother's Day and anticipates a good crowd.

The family plans to also rebuild the Long Branch Saloon, but doesn't yet have a timetable since reopening the Bluebird has been the priority.

Marjorie Tracy said the family appreciates the public's support after the fire and hopes to have the restaurant bright and shiny for its reopening.

A restaurant called the Bluebird has operated on Main Street in Morristown since 1925 with numerous owners. The business has been owned by the Tracy family since 1972. The family opened the Long Branch Saloon in 1974.
