Indianapolis-based MainGate Inc. signed a four-year deal with the Tennessee Titans to handle online and retail merchandising
services for the National Football League franchise.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In addition to the Titans’ online store, MainGate will be responsible for layout and design of the team merchandise
catalog and new retail kiosks and stores in the Nashville area. Titans officials said hiring MainGate is part of a push
to expand its retail footprint.
The Titans become MainGate’s seventh NFL client.
MainGate is the exclusive merchandiser of the Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings and Washington Redskins,
and operates the online merchandise business for the St. Louis Rams and Kansas City Chiefs.
MainGate, which was founded in 1963, has a variety of clients, including the Indy Racing League, Danica Patrick, Indiana
Pacers and Harley-Davidson.
The company has been on a tear since signing its first NFL client three years ago, registering strong double-digit revenue
increases in recent years, according to company officials, and boosting its local employee count to 250. MainGate has 470
employees.
MainGate’s ability to increase merchandise sales for other NFL teams was the main reason it decided to partner with
the local firm, Titans officials said.
“In MainGate, we feel as though we have found a company that is proven in the retail space and has the ability to provide
our valued fans with outstanding customer service and exceptional merchandise,” said Ralph Ockenfels, Titans vice president
of marketing.
