The White House has chosen an Indianapolis labor and employment attorney to be the next U.S. Attorney for the Southern District
of Indiana.

Making a nomination announcement about 7 p.m. Wednesday, President Barack Obama selected Bingham McHale LLP partner Joe Hogsett
for the top prosecutor position in the southern part of the state. Indiana’s Democratic Sen. Evan Bayh had recommended
Hogsett for the post, and his office in Washington, D.C., confirmed the nomination.

If approved by the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and confirmed by the full Senate, the attorney who’s been practicing
since 1981 would take the reigns from interim U.S. Attorney Tim Morrison, who’s held the job since Susan Brooks left
in 2007.

Hogsett previously served as secretary of state and was chief of staff to Bayh when he was governor.
