Slingshot SEO names tech veteran its CEO

August 8, 2011

Jay Love, one of central Indiana’s most successful information technology entrepreneurs, is returning to Indianapolis to lead Slingshot SEO, a growing search engine optimization firm.

The company announced the appointment Monday morning.

Love co-founded software firm eTapestry in Indianapolis in 1997 and sold the company in August 2007 to Charleston, S.C.-based Blackbaund Inc. for $24.8 million. Love remained in charge of the eTapestry division until he left in June 2010 to become CEO of Baltimore-based software company Social Solutions.

Slingshot SEO has 75 employees and more than 150 clients nationwide. In May, the company announced that it plans to add 114 workers by 2013. The state pledged up to $1.15 million in performance-based tax credits toward its expansion.

“The company is expanding rapidly, making hires and landing new enterprise clients daily,” Love said in a prepared statement. “The opportunity to be part of that, and help shape the company’s next chapter, was too enticing to turn down.”

Slingshot co-founders Kevin Bailey, Aaron Aders and Jeremy Dearringer will remain involved in the company’s daily operations and will continue serving in full-time executive positions. The company had been operating without a CEO.

Love, a Delaware county native, is a former chairman of TechPoint and was founding chairman of NPower Indiana, a not-for-profit that helps other not-for-profits with their technology needs.
