Bruce Hetrick [Aug. 27 IBJ] thinks Republicans are trying to suppress votes of Democrats. This may be true in some jurisdictions, just as Democrats try to suppress votes of military personnel. In both cases, this is outrageous. However, fair and reasonable laws to keep election cheaters from cheating do not constitute voter suppression. Where Hetrick is wrong is insisting that it should be easier to vote in America than to buy a beer.
