Indianapolis has landed the 2016 U.S. Olympic diving trials, a source confirmed Tuesday.
The trials will take place at the Indiana University Natatorium at IUPUI.
Indianapolis and Atlanta were finalists to host the eight-day June event. Four other cities were eliminated earlier.
The Natatorium has long been a favorite facility for major swimming and diving events, but is in need of $17 million to $20 million in upgrades and repairs, organizers said recently.
The trials will determine which divers will represent the United States at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. More than 100 divers are expected to compete.
Indianapolis previously hosted the event in 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2008.
