Local Dress for Success hires new executive director

January 12, 2009
Dress for Success Indianapolis, an organization that helps disadvantaged women get and keep jobs, has a new executive director, Barbara S. Ellsworth, formerly the director of an Evansville women's shelter.

Ellsworth started work Monday at Dress for Success' offices/boutique at 820 N. Meridian St. She moved here from Evansville, where she was executive director of the Albion Fellows Bacon Center, a shelter for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Before her 15-year tenure at the Bacon center, she was executive director of Offender Aid and Restoration, also in Evansville.

Dress for Success is an international network that aims to boost women's economic status in part by providing the kind of attire they need to fit into the professional world. The Indianapolis affiliate was founded in 1999 and moved into new offices last May.
