The trip, which concludes July 16, will include visits with a dozen businesses and attending the Farnborough International Airshow, one of the largest worldwide exhibitions dedicated to the aviation industry.
This will be Pence’s third international job-hunting trip as governor. Pence said he and the 22-person delegation – including business leaders, economic development officials and university representatives – will be “taking Indiana’s voice to the airshow.”
He also said the focus of the trip is “aerospace engineering and manufacturing.”
“I think the opportunities for the Hoosier state are truly sky high at the international air show,” Pence said during a press conference Wednesday morning in the FedEx hangar at the Indianapolis International Airport.
The cost of the trip will be covered by private donations.
Pence stood in front of a large FedEx airplane and spoke about GE Aviation, an aerospace engineering company that chose Lafayette as the location for it’s new $100 million jet engine assembly facility.
Pence said GE Aviation will be home to the first facility to manufacture the new LEAP airplane engine and will also give 200 jobs to Hoosiers.
“We truly believe that the future of Indiana is, in part, in the air,” Pence said.
